First of all, Morgan and I want to give thanks to everyone reading this for your generosity and support for our wedding/honeymoon. And with that being said, I feel like it’s only right to share the adventures of Morgan & Cody from this past week.
We started our trip in Downtown Denver where we ate and drank like royalty (x6 breweries in 2 days), visited Coors Field, walked the Botanical Garden and too much more to go on about. We rode Lime scooters all around the city like true tourists and had a blast!
We had to leave Denver a day earlier to get up to Breckenridge because there was a winter storm brewing! So once we got up to the mountain, we stocked up on food and prepared for a couple of days of snow! We thought we knew what we were getting in to.
The next 72 hours was quite a whirlwind of challenges as our first day out in the snow (1.5 feet of snow) we managed to lock ourselves out of the cabin, with no phone, wallet, or keys, all while it was actively snowing.
We had to trek down this quarter of a mile driveway knocking on doors hoping someone had a phone. After about 45 minutes of freezing, we found another soul who was shoveling her driveway. Thankfully, she brought us in and let us use her phone. Luckily after many hours of brainstorming, we decided to try our hand at breaking into the cabin! Thank goodness for this random ladies expired hotel gift card! We were able to use it to unlodge this latch on one of the back doors! We thought the chaos was over.
It was now Friday and we had a flight to catch on Saturday morning. However, it was still snowing with about 3 feet of snow now in our way! We were at the mercy of the local snow plow guy. We were ready to be snowed in for another couple of days but at last, he showed up right before sunset on Friday night and we escaped to back to Denver!
Leaving the hotel at 4:45, to catch our 7:05 flight, we thought we had plenty of time to return the rental car and to catch our flight. However, after getting a history lesson from a slow and old, but nice Uber driver, we found ourselves sprinting through the Denver airport and… well… we missed our flight!!! After being on standby for other flights for 2 hours, we decided to call it what it was and knew we were going to be in Denver another night!
Luckily, we had friends who picked us up and we decided to let go of all the frustration with a few Irish Car Bombs and St. Pattys celebrations! We finally made it back to Austin yesterday!
The honeymoon was a roller coaster of emotions haha! But without the support and grace of my CTS team, it wouldn’t have been possible!
So thank you very much for all the support and love!
